Third campaign - Safe Haven

Third Campaign, Safe Haven

The story so far...

Characters have returned to Solace and Nathan who has received concerning news from Haven. Fowler Greyeyes has sent a message asking for his `old friends` to join him in Haven to drink to the saviours of Esker. Nathan thinks there is something going on behind this cryptic message. News from Haven is that Seeker religion has been completely driven out of the city. Guards in the colours of the Church of Belzar now man the gates and patrol the city. Rumours of people disappearing and of people living in fear.

Nathan asks the characters to go to Haven and meet up with Fowler, provide whatever aide he may need. Investigate the strange goings on in the city.

Upon arriving in Haven its clear something is not right. Green clad guards man the gates and patrol the streets. The city guards under Fowler Greyeyes, or rather whats left of them, are holed up in the old fort. And Fowler is missing.

People are jumpy and furtive, scared even. People have dissapeared and some shops are boarded up. Fowler isnt the only important peron miossing. The council of elders have gone and the famed weaponsmith, Katana Wildblade, is missing and her shop is boarded up.

The characters start the search for Fowler at the guards old watering hole, the High Hand Inn. Here there is no recent word of Fowler but the characters find someone else is asking after the guard captain, a mysterious young lady by the name of Sarloth.

Sarloth arranges to meet the characters in the innthats known to be run by the Mockers, the Steel Tankard. However, when Sarloth leaves the High Hand, she is followed by two mercenaries who claim Sarloth is in fact a Tiefling and they plan to collect a bounty on her.

At the Steel Tankard inn the characters talk with Sarloth about the missing Fowler, whome she refers to as her `protector`, the two mercenaries from earlier enter and a fight breaks out. The mercenaries are fought off and when the characters leave the inn they spot an old friend, Jimmy the Hand. The mockers believe they may have a lead on Fowler, he was spotted in the sewers some time ago in an area thats become too dangerous for the mockers to travel. He can guide them there. Its an area close to Katana Wildblades armoury is.

Jimmy guides the characters to the sewer entrance, gives them some rudimentary directions and wishes them luck...

In the sewers the characters split up... two head towards Katanas secret underground entrance, the third member of the group investigates some strange noises only to find, horror of horrors... an Amorphous Blob!

The two characters heading to Katanas are attacked by a guardian water elemental. Overcoming this mighty enemy and joined by the third member of their party the characters enter the basement of Katanas armoury only to listen in on amysterious conversation between something not quite human and an old adversary of theirs, the black robed wizard, Kite, who was last seen in the employ of the Seekers of New Gods.

Sneaking into the lower rooms of Katanas residence the characters find a dark and forbidding serpent inscibed book and two evil looking knives. They fight two guards and a strange serpent priest who dissapears in apuff of smoke once defeated.

The characters find Katana alive but unconcious. There is no sign of Fowler or Kite. So what dark mystrery have the characters walked into? where is Fowler and what did these people want with him and Katana?
